Why are you running for this office?
I was honored to be among the five of 13 appointed by the Selectmen to hold the post until this spring's election. There is still much work to be done, however. What are your qualifications relative to the position you are running for? I have more than 20 years experience in Town government in addition to bachelor's and master's degrees in the subject. What are your top priorities for Dedham's future? As a trustee, my top priorities are to hire a permanent director and to reopen as quickly and as safely as possible. |

Why are you running for this office? As a Trustee appointed by the Town last Fall, I have quickly developed a deeper understanding of: the importance of the library to our residents; the essential and joyful nature of many of its programs across the generations; and the critical nature of having a safe and welcoming center of reading, research and learning for ALL. I would like to continue to work on behalf of the library employees and my fellow Trustees to move the Library mission forward.
What are your qualifications relative to the position you are running for? I realize that simply loving the library in my youth, growing up as the child of bookshop owners and bringing my kids early and often to the Dedham library doesn't represent a 'qualification'...but it is an important ingredient. Beyond that I serve/have served on a few charitable boards in an around Dedham; have built companies and lead teams to excel in their work; and my first career was as an educator. In the last 6 months as a Trustee I have found a good fit between my role at the library and my career experience. I've also been enjoying the learning that comes with public service and government. What are your top priorities for Dedham's future? I think the first priority is to get life back to a level of normality that encourages connection, growth, expression and enjoyment...particularly for underserved communities. Then I would like to see Dedham evolve as a town with community engagement at its beating heart. Connecting, collaborating, sharing community activities are the best way to break down the walls erected by media preferences, politics and the isolation brought about by a pandemic. This town has good 'bones' just needs a little work and tolerance by people on both sides. The library plays an important role in both these priorities. |

Why are you running for this office?
I am delighted and honored to run for a second term on the Commission of Trust Funds. I think there is more to be done in continuing to make the objectives of the Commission more visible in reflecting the impactful work it does, notably in awarding funds to local non-profit organizations and high school scholarships. What are your qualifications relative to the position you are running for? Prior to joining the Commission of Trust Funds in 2018, I spent nearly a decade in the non-profit sector reviewing financials and ensuring that thousands of donations were applied true to the intent of the donors. There are parallel responsibilities as a Commissioner, so I feel my work experience serves me well. Additionally, having been Clerk and now Chair of the Commission, I've learned about and documented past discussions, and weighed those considerations in current decision-making, all with an eye to the future of the funds. What are your top priorities for Dedham's future? Transparency and Accountability |
