Why are you running for Town Meeting?  As a father of an 8-year-old, I want to continue building a welcoming, just, equitable, honest, and forward-thinking community that she is proud to call home. To make that town a reality, we need to enter all discussions with an open mind and listen to ALL Dedham voices, and that's what I'll do.
What are your priorities for Dedham's future?  My top priority would be to equitably represent the entire Dedham community, especially those whose voices have been historically under-represented, when considering future town plans and priorities. Key initiatives that I would support are spending tax dollars efficiently to create safe and affordable housing for all residents, institute school programs that provide opportunities for all students to succeed, and secure and expand town infrastructure to provide a safe and healthy place to live, work, and play.

Why are you running for Town Meeting? Ten years ago my wife and I moved to Dedham to start and raise our young family. As a town meeting member, I’m committed to being an informed representative who will engage my Precinct 5 neighbors, and vote to ensure Dedham continues to grow into a vibrant community that is supportive and welcoming to all.
What are your priorities for Dedham's future? My top priority is that all issues before the town are viewed with the lens of ensuring equity, building diversity, and being inclusive to all current and future residents. From this lens, I am confident Dedham will make decisions regarding our schools, parks and recreation, safety, taxes etc. that will be best for our town as a whole.

Why are you running for Town Meeting?  Last year, I was elected for the first time to Town Meeting serving Precinct 5. I ran then — and I’m running again — to be a vote and a voice for a progressive approach to Dedham’s future, focusing on fiscally responsible improvements to our infrastructure and natural environment, initiatives that support equity, inclusiveness, and a community that is welcoming to all, respectful discussion and discourse, and smart, proactive approaches to the impacts of climate change. If I’m re-elected to serve on Town Meeting, I will be grateful for the opportunity to continuing helping to shape the future of this terrific community.
What are your top priorities for Dedham's future?  That we continue to improve our infrastructure and natural settings while committing to finding innovative funding opportunities, that we find ways to lessen property tax burdens, particularly on senior and lower-income residents; and that we fully commit to a community that is fair, equitable, inclusive, and welcoming.

Why are you running for Town Meeting? A community as vibrant as Dedham deserves forward-thinking and forward-planning leadership. I am driven by the opportunity to shape and better my community on behalf of all of my neighbors. My unique experience as a three-term Select Board member mean I can hit the ground running and understand how to get things done.
What are your priorities for Dedham's future? The near-complete Master Plan lays out a number of priorities I would like to see implemented, including encouraging housing options for all residents, investment in sidewalks and other infrastructure to make Dedham more walkable and the protection of our natural resources and open spaces. I believe we have to think about what is possible and dream big to envision the very best Dedham for our future.

MELISSA A CIDADO
Why are you running for Town Meeting?  I've lived in Dedham for 7 years with my husband and 8 year old daughter. I've been involved in the PTO and Dedham Coalition for Equity and Inclusion, but I want to do more. In my 20+ year career in large corporations, I've led and implemented initiatives that successfully put ALL people first while not breaking the bank. There are a lot of big decisions facing our town and very diverse opinions on how we should move forward. If the last two years have reminded us of anything, it's how much we need each other. I'm running to give back even more to our tight-knit community and to help bring together ALL our neighbors - making sure we all have a voice in shaping Dedham's future!
What are your priorities for Dedham's future?  If you vote for me, I will commit to connecting and engaging with ALL precinct five neighbors to represent your interests and needs. My priorities would be:
  • Healthy, inclusive, and safe place for everyone to live, work and play
  • More green spaces that support good health for residents and the environment
  • Town tax dollars are spent wisely
  • Schools that provide equitable opportunities for all to succeed and thrive
  • Affordable and safe housing for all residents

Why are you running for Town Meeting?  I’m running for Town Meeting in P5 because I have really enjoyed being a Town Meeting Member the last 3 years. The most satisfying aspect is helping my neighbors in town with an issue they have and working together to find a solution.
In addition, when it comes to voting, I will do my own research on articles by attending meetings, watching rebroadcasts of meetings on Dedham TV, or by talking to people on both sides of a topic to get all points of view. With all this knowledge I vote for what’s best for Dedham - not a political party or the way my friends at TM are voting.

What are your priorities for Dedham's future?
  • Making sure the town is spending our tax dollars in the appropriate manner. This doesn't mean not spending, but more or less are we spending the towns money in the most efficient and intelligent way possible.
  • I'm interested in keeping our elementary schools as neighborhood schools, building the most sensible green space in Dedham square, improving the Route 1 corridor by the Dedham Mall, and making sure any newly proposed or changes to the towns existing laws make sense for the residents of Dedham.
  • In addition, getting TMM's to do more for the people of their precincts than just show up to two meetings a year. I believe a TMM should be representing their neighbors year round.

Why are you running for Town Meeting?   I’d be honored to have your vote on April 9th to represent Precinct 5 at Dedham Town Meeting  I am a parent to two young kids who are/will be attending public school, and have been active in Dedham to improve transportation options and safe walking routes to school for kids as the chair of town’s Active Transportation Working Group and a co-founder of the Dedham Cycle Club.  I hope to bring my experience as a non-profit professional seeking positive impact and a balanced budget to serve Dedham’s vision towards the future.
What are your top priorities for Dedham's future?
  • To collaborate with different groups in town to ensure that we have safe, functional, efficient options for getting around town and into/out of the city for all those who live, work, or learn here. This means advocating for sidewalk improvements, safer road crossings, a network of bike lanes, safe routes for kids to walk to school like the old days, and improvements to Rte 1
  • Improving equity and belonging for all in Dedham, especially for children from diverse backgrounds in our public schools
  • Protecting and increasing access to green space
  • Supporting small local businesses to thrive in challenging economic times

Why are you running for Town Meeting?  I am running because coming together to solve our problems is what makes Dedham special. Whether it is snow blowing after a storm or helping a fellow parent with some last-minute child care or just checking in on an elderly neighbor, it is up to us all to help each other which is why I would be honored to represent the 5th Precinct and make sure Dedham stays on the right track.
What are your priorities for Dedham's future? I am most interested in keeping Dedham affordable, especially our seniors. And, as a parent of school-aged children, a quality education for all.

Why are you running for Town Meeting? My husband and I are new Dedham residents and plan to raise a family here. I'm a college professor who teaches that civic engagement is an essential part of strengthening the community in which we live. So, I'm running to practice what I preach!
What are your priorities for Dedham's future?
  • Healthy, inclusive, and safe places for neighbors and friends to live, work, learn, and play
  • Green spaces that support good health for residents and the environment
  • Schools that provide equitable opportunities for all students to thrive
  • Affordable and safe housing

MICHELLE MARIE LABADINI

Why are you running for Town Meeting? This is my third time for re-election. Because I saw my taxes going up so high and didnt know why, because I would see buildings go up in Dedham, traffic increase, residents unhappy with certain changes in town and not feel informed. Thus, only way to change that "i dont know' answer was: to be involved. I started going to various town meetings 12 yrs ago, which then turned into running for Town Meeting Representative for Precinct 5 and winning. I have spent countless hours in Planning Board meeting to learn about Amazon expansion and how it affects P5 traffic, noise and safety as one example.
What are your priorities for Dedham's future?
1. Green space. We have got to save Dedham Square from being all condos and concrete. Currently, we have a chance to expand the old police station to a beautiful new Town Park. We need Select Board to honor that process
2. Traffic. Amazon's business expansion in Dedham with huge long vans has contributed to our increasing traffic issue, especially around Endicott rotary and Dedham Square.
3. Taxes-we have got to look at needless spending and come up with viable plan to lower taxes. Keep Dedham safe and livable.

ANN M PALERMO
Why are you running for Town Meeting? I am running for reelection for Town Meeting because I believe that working together with individuals from all areas of our town can make a Dedham a stronger more vibrant community for everyone. I have lived in Dedham since 1999, have chosen to raise a family here and I truly care about the people and the town's future. I am an active participant in many youth programs like Dedham Youth Soccer, the Dedham Basketball Association and the Dedham Youth Field Hockey league which I helped to create and currently serve as a board member. I am a public school math teacher in Watertown I am passionate in investing in Dedham's youth through the improvement of our schools and school community.
What are your priorities for Dedham's future?  My top priorities for Dedham's future are increasing the rankings of our public schools by creating an environment where students feel safe, can learn and excel and where educators are valued, respected and cared for by our community. We need to bridge the political gaps in Dedham and focus on working together for the greater good of the town. We have to come together to complete projects like the public safety building, road ways, bridges and sidewalks within our budgets. We need the different public sectors of our town to work in a more collaborative manor so that more townspeople can benefit from all that Dedham has to offer.
