ERICK ANDREW STRAGHALIS
Why are you running for Town Meeting? I firmly believe that resilience and progress are both deeply rooted in a strong sense of community. Dedham has a small-town feel, with big-town amenities, which makes it a highly desirable and sought-after place to live in. We need to continue evolving and progressing to address the challenges of a growing town, while maintaining that small-town feel that makes Dedham our home. As one of your Town Meeting Member representatives, I will closely hold the values of our Precinct 1 community — and the best interests of Dedham — while encouraging greater accountability and better decision making from all our elected, appointed, and career officials.
What are your priorities for Dedham's future? My greatest concern is in being a good steward of Dedham's resources — financial as well as the open spaces, schools, and neighborhoods — that make Dedham a great place to live, grow and learn in. In reviewing and voting for articles, my priorities will be:
WILLIAM SHAW MCDERMOTT

Why are you running for Town Meeting? I hope to gain a better understanding of the key issues that are shaping our Town, and to then be able to more effectively communicate these issues and help my friends and neighbors become more aware of them.
What are your priorities for Dedham's future? Dedham will be facing unprecedented development pressure in the coming years....we already are. Our Town leaders must ensure that commensurate improvements to Dedham's infrastructure is required for ALL new proposed residential & commercial development, and that critical Traffic Mitigation and Pedestrian Safety thresholds are met before any project is approved.

Why are you running for Town Meeting? I have lived in Dedham for over thirty years and raised my children here. I want to continue to represent my neighbors and have a say in our town’s future by participating in town meeting. I have been fortunate to participate in town meeting for multiple terms and understand how important it is to have a voice in our local government.
What are your priorities for Dedham's future?
1. Health and safety - support plans to make our town safer for pedestrians and bikers with our increased traffic. Support initiatives to provide information and services to our community that help all of us make healthier choices.
2. Smart planning that understands that with population growth and our proximity to Boston, that we need to embrace growth of housing and consider all of our resident’s needs.
3. Consider the impact on the environment as we plan for the future.
4. Make the best decisions for our schools with strong consideration on the financial impact.
5. Improve our public spaces, parks, and sports facilities with financial goals in mind as we make decisions.

Why are you running for Town Meeting? I've lived in Dedham for 27 years and have noticed many changes, positive and negative. As a Town Meeting Representative, I want to make sure Dedham continues to move forward in a progressive direction as a strong, viable Town that exceeds the needs of everyone who lives here.
What are your top priorities for Dedham's future? I'd like to see the Town improve its infrastructure so cars, pedestrians, and bicyclists have safe roads to share; improve green energy initiatives and better design for new construction and renovation; I’d like to see better communication between Boards and Committees so efforts aren’t duplicated.
JOHN F DASHE
Why are you running for Town Meeting? I am running for re-election because I care deeply about Dedham’s future. I want to apply my experience and voice to help our Town make good decisions about issues that affect our everyday lives. Towards this goal, I will listen respectfully to different viewpoints. Working together with other Town Meeting members, we can support policies and programs that will make Dedham a better place to live, work, and play.
What are your top priorities for Dedham's future? We need to do simple things that promote walking and biking, like rebuilding and connecting sidewalks, planting shade trees, and calming traffic. These low-cost steps can bring more people and life to our neighborhoods and local businesses, improve our economy, and reduce our carbon footprint. Redoing the Route 1 corridor is just one example of this. We also have aging neighborhood schools that need rebuilding or replacement, which must be done although it will strain our budget. Building our new Town Green in Dedham Square is a generational opportunity; we should do it right. Finally, we need polices that promote affordable housing.

Why are you running for Town Meeting? I am a proud Dedhamite, growing up in Greenlodge, attending DHS, and now living in P1 for the last ten years. I love how much the town has evolved, but I’m disheartened to see such a divide among Dedhamites. Now more than ever, Town Meeting needs someone like me who can bridge that divide and bring Dedham together. I want to help our town move forward so that every resident can feel good about living in Dedham, no matter who they are or how long they’ve lived here.
What are your priorities for Dedham's future? I’d like to see Dedham take steps to be a more inclusive community for people of all demographics. To me, this means improving all around communication, increasing housing options for 65+, and enhancing DE&I initiatives on all fronts. Let’s focus on being responsible with budgets and property taxes, but ensuring the schools have the resources they need to truly be successful. I’d also love to see the public safety building built on time and on budget. Another priority for me is increasing Dedham’s walkability by improving sidewalks, transitioning roads like Rt 1 and 1A, and creating more open spaces.

I serve on the town's Active Transportation Working Group where we discuss transportation issues such as improvements to make walking and biking safer, programs and funding for safe routes to school, and options to provide local transportation within Dedham using new technology.
What are your priorities for Dedham's future?
1. Implementing the transformative Dedham Town Green design recommended by the Dedham Square Planning Committee
2. Moving forward with building our fourth new school so more kids throughout town are educated in state of the art facilities
3. Implementing on-demand local public transportation within Dedham using new technology for those who do not have access to a car or want to avoid having a second car
4. Planning and promoting improvements for expanded safe biking and walking opportunities in all neighborhoods
5. Planning and implementing major improvements to Providence Hwy to make it more of a parkway and less of a barrier that divides the town

Why are you running for Town Meeting? I am running for reelection. My family chose to live in Dedham and have cherished our 28 years here. As a developer, most notably Norfolk House at 19 Court Street, I have close experience with town government services and believe they can be improved. A Town Meeting vote made Norfolk House possible and I have wanted to give back to Dedham-- help it realize a more promising future. The quality of future Dedham is ultimately in the hands of our local government officials. From 2016 to 2018 I was the Vice Chair of the Dedham Square Planning Committee. I am proud of the full design and financing plan we created for the Town Green and working hard to assure approval of this wonderful vision.
What are your priorities for Dedham's future? Completion of the Dedham Town Green as designed by the DSPC-- a winner for the whole town. Further, improving town governance, particularly as it relates to planning for and professionalizing the design and construction of new public buildings.

My top priorities for Dedham include continuing sound financial management, supporting development consistent with both Dedham’s history and future needs, and adequately funding Dedham schools and all town departments as they work to make Dedham a wonderful place to live. Specifically, I hope to see the town seize the opportunity for an attractive green public space at 600 High street after the police department relocates to the new Public Safety Building. I also support continuing to upgrade our school buildings while considering the possibility of consolidating two elementary schools.

Why are you running for Town Meeting?
My family moved to Dedham 20 years ago with our daughter. Since that time we have added two sons and have grown to appreciate all that the community of Dedham has to offer our citizens. In my time in Dedham, I have served one term on the School Committee and been a Precinct 1 Town Meeting member for 3 years. It is important to be an active member in local government to give back to the town that has given us so much. There are many important issues the town is facing and I hope for the opportunity to be a voice for Dedham. For this reason, I am running for Precinct 1 Town Meeting Member and respectfully request one of your votes on election day. Thank you.
What are your priorities for Dedham's future? My top priority is to work with other town meeting members and elected officials to continue to accomplish the master plan goals we have set forth for our town. It is my belief that we all want what is best to sustain the growth and future of our town. There is more that brings us together than divides us. We have building, road and park projects that are on the horizon and It is the responsibility of Town Meeting Members to assure we do this in a fiscally responsible way that works for all.

I believe I can help lead Dedham in a positive direction for the future.
What are your priorities for Dedham's future? I support increasing access to open spaces and recreation to create more opportunities for Dedham residents to gather, engage and enjoy, including the Route 1 corridor and the new Town Green on the site of the old Police Station. We need to explore additional opportunities to improve the town without causing undo increases to property taxes. I think affordable housing will continue to be a significant issue to be addressed as the population ages.
